What do infants know about the world around them? How do they learn to understand language?
We investigate cognitive development in infants and toddlers, with a particular focus on early word learning, speech sound discrimination, and children's understanding of their visual environment. The Oxford University BabyLab was established 1992, and is now part of the Oxford Centre for Developmental Science.
